What you need to know

The evenings start early and dinner turns into something that cooks in one pot. This 48-page Lidl magazine carries the cover line Proef de herfst and runs from Wednesday 23 September to Sunday 1 November 2026, forty days in all. The contents list divides it into five parts: seasonal produce on page 6, stews on page 12, pots and pans on page 16, rainwear on page 30 and drinks on page 32.

A forty-day window invites the assumption that the whole magazine is buyable at any point in it, but the cast-iron range on page 16 prints its own line saying it reaches the shops on 14 October, three weeks after the cover start date. So when something catches your eye, look inside that tile for a separate date before deciding which trip to make. The second thing worth taking from the issue is how it invites comparison. The Deluxe duck breast tile prints 2,79 euro per 100 gram, with small print giving the pack at roughly 7,67 euro for about 275 gram. Those are the same sum, since 2,79 times 2,75 comes to about 7,67, but only the per-100-gram figure compares across shops, because a pack price moves with the actual weight. Apply it to whatever meat you plan to buy: the pack price divided by the weight in grams over 100 is the number that can be compared.

The three items the store page singles out each meet a different autumn chore:

  • Potten en pannen, € 0,16. This is the entry point to the cookware section. Page 16 itself lists eight enamelled cast-iron pieces, with the page printing prices from a mini two-piece set at 7,99 euro each, through a 2,2 litre 18 cm saucepan at 17,99, a 2,8 litre 21 cm casserole at 19,99 and a 5,0 litre 26 cm pan at 24,99, up to the 4,8 and 5,6 litre pieces at 27,99. The page states the range is free of PTFE and PFOA coatings, works on every heat source including induction, and is oven-safe to 260 degrees. A household replacing its casseroles should be choosing by litres against the number of people it cooks for, not by colour.
  • Esmara Dames of Heren Regenparka, € 17,99. For an October commute in the Netherlands, a long coat you can keep on all day beats an umbrella. This one is priced the same for women and men, which suits a household kitting out two adults at once. Decide first whether it is for commuting or for walking the dog, because the two ask different things of length and breathability. The flyer gives no water-column rating for this coat, so anyone who cares about that has to read the label in the shop.
  • Verspakketten, € 4,99. A prepared vegetable pack solves the problem of wanting a stew without the preparation time. Whether it pays depends on how many people eat: the pack usually states how many portions it makes, so divide 4,99 by that number for a cost per person and hold it against buying the same vegetables loose. For a larger table the pack usually loses; for two or three people it often wins.

The rest of the issue reads by the same rule. Chef Select stew vegetables are shown from 0,98 euro, with small print noting that this is the price example for finely cut pointed cabbage. Deluxe venison steak of 225 gram at an offer price of 7,99, Zwagerman luxury fresh smoked sausage of 275 gram at 2,99 and Kania meat sauces of 200 ml at 1,79 are all pack prices, so divide them to a per-100-gram figure before comparing. The footer also states that standard delivery from Lidl.nl costs 4,99 euro, which belongs in the total of any online order before you judge it.

Worth noting: the flyer states that offers run while stocks last and gives no stock per branch, and because this magazine spans forty days with a good deal of seasonal stock in it, the later you go the more likely something has sold out. If you want the page 16 range, go after 14 October. If you want the fresh pages, go early.
