The weather has turned and you want a fuller bottle for the slow-cooked dish this weekend. This eight-page Gall & Gall booklet, valid from 21 September to 4 October 2026, is headed Proef de herfst and sorted by taste rather than by country: red fruit, soft, light and fresh, round and full.

Before you turn a page, be clear about one thing: every price in this booklet is the member price, with the shelf price in the small line underneath. The bottle on the cover, Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva from DOCa Rioja in Spain, vintage 2021, shows PREMIUM MEMBER PRIJS 15,99 in a black box with Regulier 21,29 on the line below, and the gap between them is exactly 25 per cent. Five further houses carry the same house-wide marking: Vidal-Fleury, La Capitana, Mirabeau, Izadi and Ca’Bolani. That means every bottle from those producers counts, not only the one in the photograph.

Three threads run through the eight pages, each answering a different autumn table:

• The tier for red meat and anything slow-cooked. Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva at 15,99 for members and Vidal-Fleury Côtes du Rhône 2022 at 8,47 are both on the thicker, rounder side, which is what stew, braised dishes and a cheese board ask for. The booklet marks them rond & vol and ferm & stevig, and half an hour open before pouring makes either one softer.
• The middle tier for chicken, roast vegetables and white fish. Fritz Wassmer Weisser Burgunder from Baden in Germany, 2024, is 8,99 for members; Lanzerac Chardonnay from Stellenbosch in South Africa, 2025, is 9,49; Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc from Swartland, 2024, is 10,49. All three have enough body to stand up to roast chicken and a cream sauce instead of disappearing under it.
• The lighter tier for the weeks before real cold sets in. Domaine Lamourié Rosé from IGP Pays d’Oc in France, 2025, is 5,99 for members; San Silvestro Roero Arneis from DOCG Roero in Italy is 7,99; Ca’Bolani Pinot Grigio Friuli Aquileia is 6,99. All three sit under ten euro and suit starters, cured meats and a cold Italian plate.

The sum is the reference price times 0,75, then divided by 0,75 litre for a price per litre. For any bottle from a house marked at 25 per cent, you can work the member price out on the shelf: take the reference figure and multiply by 0,75. A standard bottle holds 0,75 litre, so 15,99 is 21,32 per litre and the 5,99 bottle is 7,99 per litre. To judge whether membership is worth it, multiply the bottles you plan to carry home by the gap per bottle: six of the cover wine, at 5,30 between 15,99 and 21,29, comes to 31,80 in one shop.

The footnote defines the reference price as the lowest non-promotional price in the thirty days before the action, so the comparison here is anchored to what this chain actually charged recently rather than to a supplier list figure. The booklet gives no stock per branch, vintages can change between batches, and the Wilde Whisky Dagen section opening on page six states that more than 300 whiskies take part without naming them all.
