There are new developments in Dutch flexible employment law. If you are self-employed (ZZP'er), this new legislation does not affect you. However, if you hold a zero-hour contract, it's important to be aware of the changes.

This new law aims to provide more security for certain flexible workers, particularly employees with zero-hour contracts.
- ✓ No impact on ZZP'ers: This legal change primarily targets employed flexible contract workers; the existing contracts and working methods for the self-employed remain unchanged.
- ✓ Zero-hour contracts to disappear: From 2028, zero-hour contracts will be replaced by 'bandwidth contracts' (bandbreedtecontract), ensuring a minimum hours guarantee.
- ✓ Longer interval for temporary contracts: The waiting period after three temporary contracts will be extended from 6 months to 36 months, preventing employers from repeatedly using short intervals to sign new temporary contracts.
Please note that this bill still requires approval from the Senate (Eerste Kamer) and is expected to take effect earliest in 2027-2028. It is advisable to check official updates before 31/12.
