Machu Picchu is often reduced to one classic mountaintop photograph. This experience restores the spatial relationships that image cannot show: how terraces follow the slope and how the Temple of the Sun connects to the city around it.
During the pandemic, the developers received exceptional site access and recorded it with drones, LiDAR and photogrammetry. With guidance from Inca historians, more than 50 engineers built a freely explorable digital city, linked by robot guide TERI.
It cannot replace standing in the Andes, but in 45 minutes it reveals building scale and terrain without altitude, crowds or long-distance travel. The minimum age is ten, and anyone prone to VR sickness should still take care.
