A wet weekend does not force a change of plan: both courses are indoors, both take players from age four, and the Sloterdijk one is a two-minute walk from the station. The two are not the same product, though. Sloterdijk is fifteen holes at EUR 13.50 and runs…

What you need to know

Teleportboulevard 84 sits beside Sloterdijk station, a two-minute walk. It is a fifteen-hole glow-in-the-dark minigolf course, about forty-five minutes end to end, open to players from age four with under-14s accompanied, reachable with a pushchair or a wheelchair and with an accessible toilet on the ground floor. GlowGolf has a second Amsterdam course, in Noord, and the two are not selling the same thing.

  • Sloterdijk: fifteen holes, 13.50 euro for adults from 13, 12.00 euro for children aged 4 to 12 and for students on production of a student card; address Teleportboulevard 84, 1043 EJ Amsterdam. (source 1)
  • Noord: ten holes, 10.50 euro from age 13, 9.50 euro for ages 4 to 12, one drink included in the ticket; family deals at 38.95 euro for two adults and two children, 44.95 euro for two adults and three children. (source 2)
  • Sloterdijk sells a combined ticket with Prison Island next door at 39.10 euro for adults and 34.10 euro for young people and students, plus 3D glasses at 2.50 euro each. (source 1)
  • The platform page shows 4.5 out of 5 from 85 reviews, sessions every ten minutes, and a booking fee of 0.60 euro per ticket. (source 3)

Two sums. The first compares density: ticket price divided by holes = cost per hole. Sloterdijk is 13.50 over 15, which is 0.90 euro. Noord is 10.50 over 10, which is 1.05 euro. Sloterdijk looks cheaper until you remember the drink in the Noord ticket. Count that at three euro and Noord becomes 7.50 over 10, or 0.75 euro a hole. So the answer depends on whether you were going to have a drink there: if yes, go to Noord; if no, go to Sloterdijk.

The second sum is the one families miss: (ticket price + 0.60) x people = what the platform actually charges. The booking fee is per ticket rather than per order, so four people is 2.40 euro, not 0.60. And Noord's family deal for two adults and two children at 38.95 euro against 2 x 10.50 plus 2 x 9.50, which is 40.00 euro, saves 1.05 euro; two adults and three children at 44.95 against 49.50 saves 4.55 euro. Everything a family deal saves comes out of the diluted adult tickets, so it improves as the children outnumber the adults.

The age lines read differently at the two courses and are worth comparing. Noord's cheaper tier is written as ages 4 to 12. Sloterdijk's 12.00 euro tier is written as children aged 4 to 12 and students with a student card. At Sloterdijk, in other words, a twenty-year-old student and an eight-year-old pay the same, provided the card is in the pocket.
